On the north side of the Currituck National Wildlife Refuge, there is plenty of wide open space separating the communities of Swan Beach and North Swan Beach. Specifically referred to as “North Swan Beach”, this portion of the 4x4 Beaches is situated just south of Carova Beach and approximately 3 ½ to 4 miles north of the beach access ramp.

Please help protect the Corolla Wild Horses. Always admire the horses from a distance. State law requires staying at least 50 feet away. Pets must also be kept at least 50 feet away. Do not feed the horses or leave trash our where horses could get to it. These horses cannot digest foods one might give to a farm horse, like apples or carrots, which could kill them. Please do not speed and keep watch for horses when driving on the beach or behind the dunes. Currituck County requires 4x4 parking permits to park on the beach beginning the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October. You do not need a pass to drive on the beach or park at the home. Two 4x4 parking passes are included with each 4x4 vacation home. The passes are located in the home's kitchen in a red envelope.

This uniquely wonderful area of the Outer Banks provides an ideal backdrop for guests seeking a more adventuresome beach getaway, void of commercial distractions. Beautiful wide beaches, a peaceful nature reserve and roaming wild horses are just a few of this magical stretch’s interestingly paired attributes. Historic “Wash Woods” US Coast Guard Station 166, circa 1878, always serves as a fascinating landmark along the trek to North Swan Beach. Because of this fairly removed setting, North Swan Beach vacation homes are the perfect place to spend quality time with family and friends.
