Situated on the wonderfully unique 4x4 Beaches, Ocean Beach offers vacationing friends and families the opportunity to enjoy time together on the coast without the distractions of a bustling neighborhood environment. A four-wheel drive vehicle is needed to navigate the beaches where Ocean Beach rental homes are located. The southern-most community of the 4x4 Beaches, the oceanfront homes of Ocean Beach begin approximately 1.5 miles from the beach access ramp and stretch north for about a mile. While there are no roads, restaurants, or shops in Ocean Beach, what you will find is a breathtakingly beautiful & vast shoreline, roaming wild horses and a positively ideal vacation environment.

Please help protect the Corolla Wild Horses! Always admire the horses from a distance. State law requires staying at least 50 feet away including pets. Do not feed the horses or leave trash out where horses could get to it. These horses cannot digest foods one might give to a farm horse, like apples or carrots. Please do not speed and keep watch for horses when driving on the beach or behind the dunes. Currituck County requires 4x4 parking permits to park on the beach beginning the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October. You do not need a pass to drive on the beach or park at the home. Two 4x4 parking passes are included with each 4x4 vacation home. The passes are located in the home's kitchen in a red envelope.

All the traditional tranquilities and familiar sights you love about the beach are found in Ocean Beach, along with a few unusual elements that make this area so special. Wild horses, protected nature preserves and vacationers and locals traveling the beaches to and from town are just a few. Guests often choose to drive their 4x4 vehicles down to the beach, park and enjoy a day of “tailgating” fun in the sun.
Penny’s Hill, on the northern end of Ocean Beach, offers guests an additional area to explore. The giant sand dune is located between the ocean and the sound. A climb to the top offers guests a unique opportunity to experience the panoramic natural beauty of the Outer Banks.
